Write the Word Blog
Several years ago God laid it upon my heart to begin writing His word and before I even got started I had shared with an individual who I thought was someone who would encourage and support me in being obedient to what God had asked of me. That person questioned me, asking me why God would have me write the word when it was already written. Her questioning made me question and because I did not return back to God and seek Him in this, I sat it aside. Upon His pursuit of me again to write the word, I prayed and asked God to confirm in His word with me that this was in fact what He wanted me to do. Immediately, He pointed me to Deuteronomy 17:18-20. So I began.
Opposition came and I sat it aside; I had no accountability and was not being faithful to continue in what He had asked me to do. It became a yo-yo task instead of passionately obeying and trusting God in His request.
You know God, He relentlessly keeps pursuing.
As I have picked this back up again in obedience, I have found myself with more questions than answers and so I am inviting others to join with me in writing, reading or discussions as I am being obedient to writing His word.
Nothing is required from anyone who joins the Deuteronomy Challenge, it is simply a front row invitation to what God is requiring of me. I am allowing the Holy Spirit to lead me in this endeavor and so far, it has been nothing less than beautiful.
If you decide you would like to write the word too, I would encourage you to prayerfully seek Him and ask Him to lead and direct you in this. He will answer you!
We can discuss what He is revealing to you in the word as well. I do not expect God to have us all in the same place in the word at the same time; that is the beauty of who He is. However, He can and will still use all of us to grow in the word together.
So far, I have written Proverbs, Ephesians, and have partially written Psalms but am now in Zechariah. I have found that writing the word reveals more than just reading it because there is a greater focus on words. It will cause you to dig deeper. The Deuteronomy Challenge allows you to participate, onlook or support. No matter where you are or what you choose, you are welcome here!
