A Place Called 'There'
A vagabond I have been
Unsettled; feet on the run
With no plans and no purpose
Seeking fulfillment in the name of fun
Turning here and turning there
Chasing after the wind that is found everywhere
Flighty and free with no thought or care
Discovering my self in a land called 'Nowhere'
Empty and wandering looking for a new place to land
A gift I was given by a generous man
I hold tightly in my grasp; a ticket in my hand
To a glorious destination of a promised land
Right on track; right on time
Full steam ahead!
On a fast moving train forged of steel I fled.
Valleys so steep,
High are the hills
Firm yet bending are the locomotive rails
Carved into a landscape of beauty so still
Settling in to peace with much travail;
Freedom found with an abundance of grace.
Resistance of who I was to who I will become
As the locomotion slowed to its final resting place
A grateful encounter with the generous man once again
A map He unfolded and placed in my hand
A circled destination of my life exposed
Made peace with my past; future untold
My heart fileted open;
My soul laid bare,
Found myself at home in Jesus
When my feet touched the ground of the place called 'There'.
